Euthanasia: Why It Can Never Be Right to Legalize It
Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 4:20PM Now this is why I have to constantly remind people that the Daily Telegraph is NOT a conservative newspaper. (It has a couple of conservative columnists but that is not the same thing.)
Today's expansive drivel comes from col.umnist Mary Riddell who delivers a tirade in support of 'new rules' on assisted suicide/euthanasia entitled "People Must Be Allowed to Die As They Wish". Bluntly, she wants it legalized.
A couple of years ago I made a couple of attempts to get the opposite argument into the Telegraph but the usual closed shop (contracted columnists did the Opinion stuff) applied. The piece was subsequently published by Canada's Catholic Insight (who also sent it to every Canadian MP before a big vote there). For those wanting to know why, morally and practically, legalization is a thoroughly bad move, you can read my piece entitled Euthanasia: Can It Ever Be Right to Legalize it online.
