Why Real Conservative?
Pleased you asked. The answer is: while the US GOP and UK 'Cameron Conservatives' try to 'find themselves' those who hold a more intellectually coherent, less culturally-vascillating, conservative worldview can perhaps help the process.
US Conservatism
At the last election the GOP actually put up a man for president (John McCain) who, though certainly personally brave, was about as coherent and capable, conservatively speaking, as the deceased Michael Jackson's pet monkey 'Bubbles' (though I profess no inside knowledge on which way Bubbles voted).
Only adding Sarah Palin to the ticket, latterly, gave the GOP ticket any real conservative credibility whatever. Currently leaderless, which way the GOP will turn is anyones guess.
UK Conservatism
From the outset, David Cameron has pushed an array of liberal policies and priorities (e.g. eco-nutjobism) and has distanced himself from historic conservatism, not least in its Thatcherite form. Cameron is likely to win the next UK election. Even so, that does not mean it will be through pushing a consistently conservative agenda. His re-gaining some poll traction has largely been forced on him - having stupidly distanced himself from Thatcherism) through lack of impact in the polls, even when New Labour was doing badly.
What do you mean by a conservative 'worldview'?
Good question? Well first, a preliminary issue. This site is not just about 'opinion'. At least not the current cultural assertion that "Everyone is entitled to one!". True as that may be, not every opinion is equally valid. As I have written elsewhere ALL opinions to be given some weight MUST be backed up by coherent and logically reasoned argument.
Furthermore, a truly conservative worldview (see Edmund Burke on my 'Quotes' page) will understand that 'faith' is always a key aspect of any professed worldview, whether or not an individual or organisation is, can, has, or is able, to articulate it.
Western Secular Liberalism is thus 'dead in the water' on both counts. First, it is a totally incoherent and illogical worldview, Second, because it is dumb enough NOT to understand that ALL worldviews - bar none - are steeped in faith. The question is not one of 'faith', but in what coherent teaching system is that faith based. The historic conservative worldview understands entirely that Western civilisation is entirely rooted in the Judeo-Christian worldview (whether or not the conservative concerned specifically professes to hold Christian or Jewish faith) - and that worldview needs to be defended or Western civilisation will fall apart.
That's why, for the conservative, Secular Liberalism is the real enemy, because it destroys a civilisation from within.
Real Conservativism
It would take too much space to go into detail about policies et al, but here are a list of a few key elements of Real Conservatism that are non-negotiable. (NB. Every one of which is not just an 'opinion', but can be defended and articulated with reason and logic. For the record, this list, which is in no particular order, is not meant to be definitive.)
pro-small government
pro-low taxes
pro-life
pro-death penalty
pro-private property rights
pro-free speech
pro-capitalism (which has pulled millions out of poverty
pro-free trade (with some limits)
pro-Israel
pro-US
pro-Judeo-Christian faith
pro-The Anglosphere (the value of the English-speaking nations to the world)
and...
anti-European Union & United Nations (indeed any trans-national pseudo-government that purports to wield international legal authority, dilute national sovereignty and Western values)
anti-multiculturalism (a single culture MUST always be pre-eminent and prevail)
anti-socialism
anti-global warming/climate change alarmism (which is as dumb a scare as the liberal mass media has fostered in decades)
